It’s about the changes between the past and the present. I use computer-generated patterns to represent technology and the modern world, and I combine them with traditional prints I found in an antique market. The contrast reflects what lies beyond development.

There are three pieces in this series: The first one is Beyond Exploration. This piece uses arrow shapes arranged like cage wire, placed on top of an old colonial map. It reflects how early exploration and colonial activities changed the original cultures of the islands. The second one is Beyond Evolution, in which a gene-like digital pattern is layered over a hand-drawn biological illustration. It shows how artificial gene modification has influenced the natural process of evolution. The final piece is Beyond Peace. I use repeated peace symbols to form an infinite loop, and underneath there is a piece of war-related news. It reminds us that the peace we experience today is built on a history full of wars.
